Abstract

Jahier is among the writers of his time who stand out for their moral rigour as well as their literary production. For him peasant civilisation and industrial civilisation are incompatible. The rural world has positive connotations, the urban one marks the abandonment of traditional peasant values. His experience as editor of Il Nuovo contadino in 1919 leads to the moment of abandonment of "interclassismo".
